Information Winery

Masseria L'Astore was born from clean and sustainable agriculture, respecting the landscape designed by culture and tradition. L'Astore wines have been certified organic since 2010. Symbol of the Salento area are the old Alberelli di Negroamaro. Vines from 1947, an ancient iconic cultivation, not yet aimed at commercial viticulture. The vineyard is cultivated without the aid of synthetic chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, pesticides in general) and without the use of genetically modified organisms. In the cellar, vinification is carried out using only the oenological products and processes permitted by regulation 203/2012. Moreover, as a certified organic producer, we follow the limits and provisions imposed by the regulations.

Magnum 2012 :

The Magnums of the 2012 vintage are specially produced for us. And limited edition of 150 pieces. According to Robert Parker, best drunk around 2025 (peak). But now also great to drink.

Tasting notes

Ruby red with garnet shadows. The nose opens with mineral, earthy, mentholated, and balsamic scents. Then, hints of violet and Mediterranean aromatic herbs, plums, black pepper, cinnamon, liquorish, walnut hush. On the finish, notes of tar and chocolate. On the palate, the wine is robust and elegant with an extraordinary personality and a gritty but well-tamed tannin. Wine with long persistence of taste- olfactory sensations. It returns the durone and the plum, with a distinguishing almond note, typical of this grape.

Food pairing

Homemade pasta with meat sauce. Read meats and feathered game grilled, braised, or stewed. Hard cheese, fermented and spicy, of medium and long maturation.
